Non-invasive Stretch Mark Treatments
Posted on March 16, 2017
Kim Kardashian is a woman that many of us look to when it comes to beauty practices and procedures. She’s the woman that brought contouring into the mainstream, made selfie’s acceptable and taught us that it is okay to have a booty.
So when we heard that the Queen of the Kardashians sought non-invasive treatments to get rid of her stretch marks on her boobs, we couldn’t wait to tell you about it.
Now, Kim has always been coy about having any surgery but we know, from her own social media and her reality TV show, that she’s not one to shy away from a non-invasive treatment or two. Vampire facial anyone? Luckily, not all non-invasive treatments are as extreme as that. And micro needling is a relatively tame procedure with very little downtime.
It’s estimated that half of all pregnant women will get stretch marks on some part of their body. Common areas include, hips, thighs, breasts, bum and stomach. Despite there being an array of products on offer to combat stretch marks; oils, creams and such, there’s nothing on the market that is really effective. Which is why micro-needling is a great treatment option. And if it’s good enough for Kim K…
What does micro needling involve?
A Dermapen is used to “wound” the skin by creating tiny channels in the deep dermal layers of the skin. This naturally stimulates collagen and elastin production, renews the skin cells, and leaves you with restructured, even skin. The older damaged collagen breaks down without leaving any sign of damage.
Micro needling works on both younger stretch marks (which are usually red) and older stretch marks (which are usually white or silver).
We use a sterile solution of highly concentrated vitamins, peptides and growth factors which is applied to the skin before the micro needling takes place, along with a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.
How does micro needling feel?
The needles that are used are so small that they don’t cause much discomfort. The topical numbing cream reduces any of that anyway. The needles are circled over the skin to effectively penetrate the channels and your skin will be red for up to 48 hours but you’ll experience no downtime.
