What do dark circle treatments involve?

To effectively reduce dark circles and eye bags Fractional Mesotherapy using a Dermapen introduces very short fine needles to the skin to create tiny channels to open up, allowing transdermal penetration of sterile, highly concentrated active ingredients of peptides and growth factors. These ingredients are delivered to the dermoepidermal junction, enhancing collagen stimulation. No topical numbing cream is required as the needle depth (of 0.1mm to 0.5mm) is short enough not to cause any discomfort. The result is brighter skin with healthy, revitalised, supple skin.

How do dark circle treatments feel?

Following Fractional Mesotherapy, your skin will be red for a few hours and feel rather like a sunburn, but these effects do subside by the following morning.

What causes dark circles?

Dark circles can be caused by a lack of sleep, ageing and stress. Lack of sleep reduces circulation in the area and increases the appearance of darkness under the eyes, so plenty of sleep is recommended. As we age, the skin under the eyes becomes more thin and delicate due to the lack of collagen and with blood vessels thinning in this area, this can cause dark circles around the eyes.

Consuming excessive alcohol leads to dehydration, which weakens the delicate skin around the eyes. Smoking reduces collagen strength and causes premature ageing, so limiting these habits will help prevent dark circles. Under eye discolouration can also be caused by allergies or pigmentation in darker skin types and can be hereditary.

How do I know this is the right treatment for me?

A consultation will assess your suitability for dark eye circle removal treatments where we will put together a bespoke treatment plan to achieve your goals. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what treatments you need, let us work together to help determine this for you.

What happens following the treatment?

As the treatments we conduct are non-invasive there is minimal downtime. There may be some redness following the treatments but this should settle by the end of day and you’ll be free to go about your usual routine. We do advise to abstain from saunas, steam rooms and protecting your skin from the sun following treatments.

We recommend using products designed specifically for dark circles and reducing puffy eyes as this is the most delicate skin on your body and so needs a dedicated product to maintain the area. Also a Retinol, which is a Vitamin A derivative, added to your daily regime will greatly prevent puffy eyes and wrinkles.
