IPL Acne

Acne, a common skin condition affects a range of ages and skin types. There are different types of acne, one of which is cystic acne which typically affects younger skin types. For cystic acne, our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Acne Treatment could be one of the best acne treatments. IPL Acne Treatment works to remove bacteria, reduce inflammation and redness to bring the acne back under control. For hormonal acne, we offer alternative acne treatments which may be more suitable. Don’t just cover it up, let our professionals help you obtain healthy, clear skin and give you your self-confidence back.

What does IPL Acne treatment involve?

IPL Acne technology uses blue light and red light which is anti-bacterial. Just like our other IPL treatments we soothe and cool the area of concern by using the head of the device before the light and heat of the device is felt on the surface of your skin. IPL Acne acts as a bactericide destroying acne bacteria and sealing the clean skin. The treatment improves any inflammation and redness to help bring acne under control and leave you with smooth, clear skin.

We often combine this treatment with Microdermabrasion beforehand to help unclog pores and decongest the skin.

How does IPL Acne treatment feel?

IPL Acne light can be compared to the ping of an elastic band when the light makes contact with your skin. The treatment is comfortable and relatively pain-free with minimal downtime. Any redness which you may have following the treatment will reduce by the end of day, leaving you to resume with your normal everyday activities.

How do I know this is the right treatment for me?

If you suffer from mild to moderate acne, including cystic acne which consists of large, red painful breakouts, rather than spots which come and go, then IPL Acne could be the correct solution for you. A consultation with free patch test will determine the type of acne you have and your suitability for acne treatment in our Manchester clinic. If this treatment isn’t correct for you we have a range of acne treatments which may help reduce your type of acne more effectively.

This treatment is suitable for skin types 1 to 4 on the Fitzpatrick scale, which ranges from fairer skins to Asian skin tones. IPL Acne cannot be undertaken if you are taking any medication such as Roaccutane or Isotretinoin.

What happens following the treatment?

IPL Acne is a non-surgical treatment meaning there is minimal downtime and redness which may occur will disappear quickly. We advise to protect your skin with SPF following treatment and maintain your skin at home using clinical products with active ingredients which will help keep your acne under control.

For optimal results a course of treatments will help achieve effective results of clearer skin, less congestion and an even texture. You should start to see a difference in the first few treatments with full results being achieved upon completion of the course.
